Program Description


Housing choice voucher program is one of the federal government's major program for assisting very low-income families, the disabled and the elderly to afford decent housing. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments.

Eligibility

  • Eligibility for a housing voucher is determined by the PHA based on the total annual gross income and family size and is limited to US citizens and specified categories of non-citizens who have eligible immigration status

Direct and guaranteed loans may be used to buy, build, or improve the applicant's permanent residence. New manufactured homes may be financed when they are on a permanent site, purchased from an approved dealer or contractor, and meet certain other requirements

Eligibility

  • In order to qualify for this benefit program, applicants must have very low-, low- or moderate incomes. Very low-income is defined as below 50 percent of the area median income (AMI); low-income is between 50 and 80 percent of AMI; moderate income is below 115 percent of AMI.
  • Families must be without adequate housing, but able to afford the housing payments, including principal, interest, taxes, and insurance (PITI). Qualifying repayment ratios are 29 percent for PITI to 41 percent for total debt.
  • Applicants must be unable to obtain credit elsewhere, yet have an acceptable credit history.
  • You must also be a US citizen or permanent resident.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans

Program Description

If your small business has suffered substantial economic injury, regardless of physical damage, and is located in a declared disaster area, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Small businesses and small agricultural cooperatives that have suffered substantial economic injury resulting from a physical disaster or an agricultural production disaster designated by the Secretary of Agriculture may be eligible for the SBA's Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program.

General Program Requirements

The SBA provides EIDL assistance only to those businesses we determine are unable to obtain credit elsewhere. You may request an EIDL for the amount of economic injury and operating needs, but not in excess of what your business could have paid had the disaster not occurred. In determining your eligible amount, the SBA will look at the total of your debt obligations, operating expenses that mature during the period affected by the disaster, plus the amount you need to maintain a reasonable working capital position during that period, and expenses you could have met and a working capital position you could have maintained had the disaster not occurred.

Government grants for unemployed skilled worker
